Memphis man admits to strangling girlfriend to death, hiding body inside SUV
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A Memphis man pled guilty after being charged in the murder of his girlfriend. Carlos Payton, 34, was sentenced to 25 years in prison without possibility of parole for strangling his girlfriend to death and leaving her body inside an SUV, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office. The incident happened on Sept. 29, 2015. Officers first were called to the 5000 block of Benjestown Road where they found the body of Pryncess Jackson, 23, in the back of her SUV. Payton was arrested later that day and told investigators he strangled her during an argument that morning at another location. He then put her body in the SUV, parked it behind a vacant home on Benjestown and walked away carrying their 3-year-old daughter.
