Adidas Is Bringing Back Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Signature Shoe

Image
One of  Adidas'  earliest signature sneakers is coming back this week with the return of NBA legend  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's  Jabbar sneakers, shown here. The Adidas Jabbar franchise was originally launched in 1978 and was the first basketball shoe to incorporate an athlete's face on the shoe. The latest re-issue of the Adidas Jabbar is offered in both the low ($100) and high-top ($110) versions and styled in a simple white and blue color scheme. Abdul-Jabbar branding is featured on the tongue of the sneakers and also appears on the accompanying shoe box. Adidas has rereleased the Jabbar sneaker a handful of times since the original launch, including both the  "Blueprint" Jabbar Hi  and the  "Lakers" Jabbar Lo  in 2014. Readers will be able to cop this "Royal Blue" Adidas Jabbar pack starting on Oct. 18 at  Adidas.com  and at select Adidas retailers. Scroll on for a closer look at both versions.

Nike has a long history of creating Halloween-themed Dunks, including the  “Night of Mischief”  and  “Candy Corn”  colorways from its SB line, and last year’s  scale-embossed Dunk Mids . This year, however, an entirely new element has been brought to the theme. These upcoming “Halloween” Nike Dunks, shared by masterchefian and prvt.selection  on Instagram , feature three-dimensional skulls covering the entirety of the toe box. The rest of the upper consists of black panels with crackled neon overlays. The molded black look from the toe returns on the Swoosh, and neon skull graphics cover the insoles. Additionally, the Halloween colorways of the  Nike Ja 2 ,  Nike Book 1 , and  Nike Kobe 5  are expected to drop soon. UPDATE (10/17):  Nike has confirmed that this year's "Halloween" Dunk Low wi...

Air Jordan 5 'Fire Red' Confirmed for 2025 Retro For the first time since 2013

Image
Along with the  “Black Metallic Reimagined”  and  “Grape”  variations, another original Air Jordan 5 will return in 2025 for the shoe’s 35th anniversary. This time it’s the “Fire Red” colorway. As reported by leaker zSneakerHeadz, the upcoming retro is set to drop again in Fall 2025. The “Fire Red” Air Jordan 5 is one of four original colorways, along with the “Black Metallic,” “White Metallic,” and “Grape,” from the model’s initial run in 1990. The sneaker was worn on the court by Michael Jordan and is the only original version with his #23 embroidered on the heel. The “Fire Red” 5 came back to retail for the first time in 2006, again in 2013, and additionally as a low-cut variation in 2016. However, it’s never been back with its original Nike Air heel branding. As it’s so far out, a specific release date is not yet known, but a sneaker industry source did confirm the upcoming “Fire Red” retro with One Dope Ass Blogger.

A decade after its last release, the "Black Toe"  Air Jordan 14  is expected to make its long-awaited return next holiday season. Sneaker Files  and  zSneakerheadz  report that a third re-release of the original 1998 colorway is part of Jordan Brand's Holiday 2024 plans. The colorway was previously retroed in 2006 and 2014, the former with ribbed side walls unlike the original. As of this initial report, no images of next year's retro have surfaced, nor has a release date been confirmed. Keep an eye out for updates on both moving forward. UPDATE (02/23):  According to  @zSneakerheadz  on Instagram, this year's "Black Toe" Air Jordan 14 will be released on Nov. 23 for $210.   One of the most sought-after  Nike Dunks  ever created is expected to be dropping for the very first time. Without any warning, Nike posted a  cryptic video  on social media this weekend that showed the unreleased Wu-Tang Clan x Nike Dunk High. The sneaker was swarmed by bees as a reference to the style's killer bee-themed colorway. According to leakers  Sneaker Files  and  @zSneakerheadz  on Instagram, a retro of the collab (style code: HJ4320-001) is releasing for the first time this fall. The "Wu-Tang" Nike Dunks were originally created back in the late '90s and only 36 pairs were believed to be in existence. The sneaker takes the OG-styled "Goldenrod" Dunk colorway as the base but features the legendary rap group's iconic logo on the heel counter and tongue tag. The upcoming version is expected to don a "Black/Pollen/White" color scheme identical to the OG pair. Select pairs from the original run have made their way onto the secondary m...
