  MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis caregiver is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from her elderly patient. Jasmine Durham , 32, is charged with felony property theft and financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable person . On December 12, 2025, the Memphis Police Department responded to a call about expensive jewelry that disappeared from the apartment of an 83-year-old woman living at Trezevant Manor Assisted Living Facility on Highland Street . The woman told police that she requires a caregiver due to her declining health. The woman’s family hired Durham as her caregiver on September 19, 2025. The victim told police that during Durham’s nearly three-month tenure, seven pieces of jewelry valued at $37,857 came up missing. Two weeks after the police were called, an investigator discovered via online records that Durham had pawned rings in late October.   A Wisconsin dad has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars after he admitted to throwing his 8-month-old son against a wall because he was losing at a video game. Jalin A. White, 22, pleaded guilty to one count each of physical abuse of a child and neglecting a child on Monday as part of a plea agreement in relation to the incident, which happened last year. On November 5, 2024, Milwaukee police officers and detectives responded to Children's Wisconsin Hospital to investigate a child abuse complaint. Earlier that day, White had been watching his son in a room he and the baby's mother rented in her parents' house, according to a criminal complaint.   A dispute over food took a violent turn last weekend, leaving a woman hospitalized with a gunshot wound and a 57-year-old man behind bars. Kenneth Beals remains in custody at the Louisville Metropolitan Detention Center following his arrest Sunday. He faces charges of second-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon after Louisville Metropolitan Police say he shot a woman who confronted him for eating snacks she had purchased for her children. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the University of Louisville Hospital around 7:00 p.m. Sunday, where the victim had arrived with a gunshot wound to her left arm. She told investigators the altercation began at a residence earlier that evening when her aunt witnessed Beals eating the food intended for the victim's kids.
