Would You Pay $40,000 for These Derek Jeter Air Jordans? Rare pair lands at consignment shop.
In May, Jordan Brand released an extremely limited Yankees-themed Air Jordan 11 Retroin celebration of Derek Jeter's retirement ceremony at Yankee Stadium. The shoes, said to be limited to 5 pairs, were made available at a nearby pop-up shop through a scratch-off lottery system. Acquiring a pair is next to impossible, but a lucky recipient looking to cash in is increasing the odds ever-so-slightly.
Consignment shop Stadium Goods has a size 12 listed with an asking price of a jaw-dropping $40,000. That's obviously a steep price to pay for a pair of sneakers, but these are one of the rarest, most collectible pairs ever produced.
The similar "Grey Suede" Air Jordan 11 Retro released last December for $400 and resell in the $600-700 range. Angelus is selling navy blue suede dye for about $4. Just saying.
