Social Status Is Releasing a Nike Air Max Penny 1 Collab An official look at both colorways
Penny Hardaway’s signature Nike line is poised for a big year in 2022, with various releases lined up including a retro of his first shoe, the Air Max Penny 1, and a Stüssy collaboration on the Air Penny 2. Adding to the lineup is a new collab on the former, this time courtesy of Social Status.
Social Status, a store owned by The Whitaker Group founder James Whitner with locations in multiple cities, is putting its own spin on the Nike Air Max Penny 1 this year. In a series of images shared by Sneaker News and leaker @chickenwop_, we can see that the retro sneaker has been given a predominantly bone-colored treatment with white and black details filling out the rest of the upper.
Unique details that separate this collaboration pair from other Penny 1s include removable Velcro Swooshes in what appears to be basketball, baseball, and tennis-inspired colors. There are also patterned hits on the tongue and heel tabs, added lace locks, co-branded heels, and custom Social Status-branded insoles. The insole logos feature a look reminiscent of handwritten school paper, perhaps a loose continuation of the theme used on last year’s “Free Lunch” Dunks.
As of now, there is no confirmed release info for the Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1, but readers can expect to find out more soon.
UPDATE (03/15): Official images of the forthcoming Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1 have emerged, revealing a previously unseen black colorway in addition to the leaked sail makeup of the collab. Stay tuned to One Dope Ass Blogger for official release details.
