These 'Eternal Summer' Asics Gel-Lyte 5s Are Very Limited Designed by Charlotte Lab School students.

The Whitaker Group will roll out two special-edition Asics Gel-Lyte 5 designs this month that is designed with the help of Charlotte Lab School students.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, students at the aforementioned charter school participated in virtual learning about branding, creative, design, marketing, merchandising, and sales in the footwear industry hosted by The Whitaker Group and Asics. Through their trials and tribulations came to this “Eternal Summer” Asics Gel-Lyte 5 collection shown here, with each colorway inspired by the summer break during the academic school year.

According to The Whitaker Group, the Charlotte Lab School students were also involved in every aspect of this sneaker including the visual campaign to learn how to release the sneakers in their new in-school store and the color palette for the sneakers.

These “Eternal Summer” Asics Gel-Lyte 5 styles will be released on Dec. 17 at socialstatuspgh.com at 10 a.m. ET and at Social Status stores for $140 each. Each colorway will be limited to 1,500 pairs.

10 killed, 73 shot in bloodiest week of the year

CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS)  - A  violent weekend  capped off Chicago's bloodiest week of the year. From April 30 through May 6, 10 people were killed and 73 others were wounded in gun violence across Chicago. This latest outbreak of violence underscores how gunmen are literally getting away with crimes up to and including murder. Overwhelmed police detectives have 155 currently active investigations of 2018 homicides, while "solving" or "clearing" 27 cases, barely 17 percent.  The clearance rate has dropped steadily in recent years, leaving thousands of murders in the last decade unsolved and thousands of killers still on the street. Chicago Police used to solve more than 60 percent of murders, back in the 1990s. New York City cops still do. But the number of CPD detectives has been cut since then.  As Mayor Rahm Emanuel prepares to run for re-election, he'll swear in 100 new detectives later this month and promises 100 more by the end of the year. Rapper XXXTentacion (real name: Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy), who was  shot to death  at the age of 20 Monday, wasn’t yet a household name. But he was well on his way.
