Best Look Yet at the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Dropping next week
Jordan Brand will collaborate with Nike SB on an Air Jordan 4 that’s scheduled to release in March 2023, a sneaker industry source tells Complex. News of the collaboration was first reported by Nice Kicks on Monday.
According to Nice Kicks, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 will have a heel tab bearing the Nike SB logo instead of the Nike Air or Jumpman logos. A source tells Complex that the SB-style Air Jordan 4 will be retooled for skateboarding.
Years before the first Nike SB x Air Jordan project was released, there were rumors about Nike’s skateboarding division connecting with Michael Jordan’s Nike sub-brand. The intra-Nike collaboration became a reality in 2014 via an Air Jordan 1 designed in partnership with skateboard artist and photojournalist Craig Stecyk. Subsequent collaborations between Jordan Brand and Nike SB have included wear-away pairs like the black and white Lance Mountain versions, which were also released in 2014, and the “NYC to Paris” and “LA to Chicago” colorways from 2019.
UPDATE (03/08): Official product images of the “Pine Green” Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 have loaded on the backend of Nike’s website. The sneaker will be released on March 17 at select skate shops and at select Jordan stockists on March 21 for a retail price of $225. Leaker @zSneakerheadz also broke down the differences between this Nike SB version and the standard Jordan 4, revealing that the upper on this new pair breaks in more easily for skating while the streamlined forefoot interior provided a better board feel. There’s also more padding on the ankle collar as compared to the standard pairs while a more flexible heel tab and the gum rubber on the outsole provide a better skating experience.
