Up for grabs is a signed pair of the Nike Air Ship that was also worn by Jordan in the fifth game of his rookie season. MJ wore the sneaker on November 1, 1984, when his Bulls team matched up against the Denver Nuggets, where he would score 17 points in 33 minutes of action. After the game, Jordan gave the sneaker away to former Nuggets ballboy T.J. Lewis.
This vintage pair of the Nike Air Ship dons a Bulls-themed color scheme with predominantly white makeup while red hits appear on the ankle collar and Swoosh logos. It's worth noting that this pair is also an early version of the original 1984 run, marked with the "Nike" and "Air" branding on the tongue and heel, respectively, whereas later pairs feature "Nike Air" branding in both spots. In addition to the shoe, the winner of the auction will also receive Lewis' Nuggets staff pass from the 1984-85 NBA season.
The auction for this rare Nike Air Ship started earlier this month at goldin.co with a starting bid of $100,000. The auction will close on Sept. 13 at 10 p.m. ET, and at the time of writing, the current bid for the shoe is $160,000.
Jordan Brand will collaborate with Nike SB on an Air Jordan 4 that’s scheduled to release in March 2023, a sneaker industry source tells Complex. News of the collaboration was first reported by Nice Kicks on Monday. According to Nice Kicks, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 will have a heel tab bearing the Nike SB logo instead of the Nike Air or Jumpman logos. A source tells Complex that the SB-style Air Jordan 4 will be retooled for skateboarding. Years before the first Nike SB x Air Jordan project was released, there were rumors about Nike’s skateboarding division connecting with Michael Jordan’s Nike sub-brand. The intra-Nike collaboration became a reality in 2014 via an Air Jordan 1 designed in partnership with skateboard artist and photojournalist Craig Stecyk . Subsequent collaborations between Jordan Brand and Nike SB have included wear-away pairs like the black and white Lance Mountain versions , which were also released in 2014, ...
There are no signs of Air Jordan 1 releases slowing down as Jordan Brand reportedly has another pair on the way—this time a new women’s exclusive version. According to @zSneakerheadz, there’s a “Denim” iteration of the model dropping in June. Given its far-out release date, a first look at the style has yet to surface but the mockup depiction from the trusted leaker account suggests that it will feature an OG-styled blocking with white leather at the base of the upper while blue denim covers the overlay panels. The shoe is also rumored to feature a special gold dubrae at the forefoot. This isn’t the first time that the Air Jordan 1 donned denim as the model was released in the “Family First” iteration in 2014 as well as a low-top “Washed Denim” colorway in 2020. There was even a Levi’s collaboration back in 2008. There’s no official sneaker release date available yet for this women’s exclusive...
It looks like the forthcoming “Reverse Mocha” Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low won’t be the only sneaker collab on the horizon for the Houston rapper and Jordan Brand. Fans will reportedly also have the opportunity to cop a “Black/Phantom” iteration of the collaborative sneaker in December, according to @zSneakerheadz on Instagram. At the time of writing, there is no leaked imagery of the collab, but a mock-up photo shared by the leaker account shows that the forthcoming Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low will feature black-based upper, grey overlay panels, and sail hits on the reverse Swoosh and midsole. Standard Cactus Jack branding is expected to be embroidered on the tongue while the face logo appears on the heel. Per @zSneakerheadz, the “Black/Phantom” Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low is rumored to drop on Dec. 15, but official release details have yet to be announced by either of the parties in...
