Drug more potent than fentanyl seized in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The director of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force says agents seized one pound of the deadly drug, fluorofentanyl, and eight pounds of methamphetamine during an interdiction operation Tuesday.

Director Johnie Carter said on December 9, agents with the West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force’s Criminal Interdiction Unit were working a special assignment at an undisclosed location in Memphis, where they seized the illicit substances.

Fluorofentanyl is a synthetic compound of fentanyl and is created through the addition of another atom to the chemical structure.

“It is approximately 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine and much more potent than regular fentanyl because fluorofentanyl breaks down in the body to yet another chemical that is dissolved much more easily in the body’s fat, allowing it to cross the blood-brain barrier much quicker and at greater quantities than regular fentanyl can,” said Director Carter. Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy commended the efforts of the West Tennessee Drug Force agents.

“Fentanyl is poison. It leads to more overdoses than any other drug, and is often mixed in with other drugs, so people don’t even know they’re taking it,” said DA Mulroy. “And fluorofentanyl’s even more deadly. This is yet another success by our DTF agents, who are working in Memphis’ highest crime areas, under our VCIF grant from the State, to keep people safe.” Director Carter said that while naloxone is effective in reversing an overdose of fentanyl, it usually requires many more doses than regular fentanyl requires to reverse the effects, and is one of the top contributors to overdose deaths.

The investigation was funded in part by Governor Lee’s Violent Crime Initiative Fund (VCIF) grant. No other details are being released at this time.

'Denim' Air Jordan 1 Highs Are Finally Dropping New women's exclusive colorway arriving this month

  There are no signs of  Air Jordan 1  releases slowing down as  Jordan Brand  reportedly has another pair on the way—this time a new women’s exclusive version. According to  @zSneakerheadz,  there’s a “Denim” iteration of the model dropping in June. Given its far-out release date, a first look at the style has yet to surface but the mockup depiction from the trusted leaker account suggests that it will feature an OG-styled blocking with white leather at the base of the upper while blue denim covers the overlay panels. The shoe is also rumored to feature a special gold dubrae at the forefoot. This isn’t the first time that the Air Jordan 1 donned denim as the model was released in the  “Family First”  iteration in 2014 as well as a low-top  “Washed Denim”  colorway in 2020. 'Black Phantom' Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low Releases Tomorrow It's official

  It looks like the forthcoming   “Reverse Mocha” Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low   won’t be the only sneaker collab on the horizon for the Houston rapper and   Jordan Brand. Fans will reportedly also have the opportunity to cop a “Black/Phantom” iteration of the collaborative sneaker in December, according to   @zSneakerheadz   on Instagram. At the time of writing, there is no leaked imagery of the collab, but a mock-up photo shared by the leaker account shows that the forthcoming   Travis Scott   x   Air Jordan 1 Low   will feature black-based upper, grey overlay panels, and sail hits on the reverse Swoosh and midsole. Standard Cactus Jack branding is expected to be embroidered on the tongue while the face logo appears on the heel.
