Woman accused of forging, cashing $6k plumbing company check

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is accused of forging and depositing a check of over $6,000 from a plumbing firm.

Danyel Ganey, 24, has been charged with theft of property ($2,500-$10,000), Criminal Simulation, Forgery ($2,500-$10,000), Use of a Counterfeit Mark or Logo, and Identity Theft

MPD said on Sept. 24, National Economy Plumbers filed a report that said they received a notification from the bank stating that the name on a check for $4,209.58 was altered and cashed for $6,209.58 by Danyel Ganey on August 13.

Officers said the person who filed the report said she did not know Ganey, and the business did not write her a check.


Investigators said on Nov. 3, they found that Ganey was the owner of the bank account where the fraudulent check from National Economy Plumbers, Inc. was deposited.

Police said that Ganey’s account had an ending balance of $30.40 on Aug. 12 before the check was deposited into her account.
