One arrested after attacking man with a samurai sword
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is behind bars after Memphis Police said he attacked another man with a samurai sword.
Andrew Deaner has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after an incident at Cleveland Street and Washington Avenue.
Police initially responded to a wounding call just before 7:15 a.m. on July 15. When they arrived, the victim told police that Deaner had accused him of stealing a knife at Poplar Avenue and Claybrook Street. The victim told Deaner that he was mistaken and began to walk away.
Police records state that’s when Deaner pulled a samurai sword from behind his back and sliced the victim’s left hand and the left side of his head with the sword.
Deaner has no bond information posted at this time, and his next court appearance is set for July 17.
