The Nike Air Max 95 'Black Border' Is Coming Back The 'Black Border' Air Max 95 that first released in 1996 will re-release in 2025.
The Nike Air Max 95 is going to be a big shoe for Nike this year—2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the model’s release, and there are a bunch of special versions and retros planned. Among them will be the “Black Border” Nike Air Max 95, an original colorway that’s set to return as part of Nike’s Fall ‘25 lineup, according to a sneaker industry source.
The shoe should arrive between July and September, but there is no set release date, and the window of its release is subject to change. The “Black Border” Nike Air Max 95 will be relatively limited, per the source, although not as limited as the “Neon” Nike Air Max 95 that’s arriving next week.
Nike did not respond to a request for comment on the upcoming “Black Border” Air Max 95 retro.
The “Black Border” Air Max 95 (original style number: 104050-132) is kind of an obscure colorway—it didn’t crack Complex’s list of the best Nike Air Max 95s of all time. The shoe’s official colors are white, deep emerald, and black, and the silhouette uses alternating white and black panels instead of the gradient upper used on so many 95s. One Japanese magazine dedicated to the Air Max 95 put the original year of the colorway’s release at 1996.
