Image
MSCHF  is continuing to find new ways to go viral, this time by way of what is confirmed to be an official collaboration with  Crocs . The shoes, which riff on MSCHF's Big Red Boot but add the cut-out ventilation holes of a pair of Crocs, were worn front row at Paris Fashion Week by musician  Tommy Cash . Despite the first look and confirmation of an official Crocs x MSCHF project, there are currently no release details for this pair, presumably dubbed the Big Yellow Boot.   While  Kobe Bryant’s  sneaker legacy is mostly attached to his  Nike signature line,  his endorsement deal with the Swoosh has also resulted in him getting numerous non-signature PE styles. One of those sneakers includes this  Air Flight Huarache  colorway that’s slated to hit retail in 2023. Shown here is the “Lakers Away” Nike Air Flight Huarache style courtesy of  Sneaker News  ahead of its scheduled 2023 release. Back in 2003, Bryant became a sneaker free agent after his endorsement deal with Adidas expired. One of his potential suitors was Nike, which created various PE colorways of its basketball sneakers for the Los Angeles Lakers star. One of the models that Bryant wore during that period was the “Home” and “Away” versions of the  Lakers-themed Air Flight Huarache.  Years later, the white-based pair was released to the public, but the black iteration remained exclusive to Bryant. At the time of writing, the release details for this “Lakers Away” Air Flight Huarache have yet t

How To Finish Your First Song

Image
If you’re new to making music, finishing your first song might not seem like a big deal but it actually is. It’s not easy to step away from what’s familiar to you to create something new, and this is the case whether you want to write music for fun or are interested in pursuing it seriously. Today we’re sharing some helpful tips for finishing your first song. Drop expectations (for now) It’s great to have goals and expectations if you’re planning on seriously pursuing music. But if this is your first try at writing a song, expectations can be paralyzing, especially when it comes to bringing a loose idea over the finish line and turning it into a finished song. Set expectations aside for now and revisit them later after you’ve completed a couple of songs. It’s great to want to write amazing music that audiences love listening to, but that just might not happen with your very first song. Your focus should be coming up with an idea, shaping it, and recording a demo of it when it’s compl

5 Ways To Fail In Music

Image
Because success means something different to each one of us as songwriters, we should also take time to think about what failure looks like to us. You might feel like you’ve failed in some way if the single you just released isn’t getting any attention or your band just split up, but there are almost always broader things going on behind the scenes that cause problems in music. Here are five common ways that failure happens in music: Letting differences get in the way of collaborative relationships It takes most bands years to develop their sound enough to create music that connects with audiences. Maybe it’s strange to say, but the secret formula to the success of many bands is that they found ways not to break up. The relationships in bands are completely unique and surprisingly complex. When arguments about money or petty differences begin to drown out everything else, bands are at risk of forgetting why they’re together and giving up. But we should also remember that not every br

5 Habits Of Successful Musicians

Image
When it comes to making it in the music biz, it’s a little bit of luck, a bit of hard work, and a whole lot of strategy. This, I’ve found, is where a lot of us get it wrong. We think the music will carry us into the arms of adoring fans and eager labels, and when that doesn’t happen on the merit of the music alone, it’s easy to feel like we’ve failed or thrown up our hands in defeat. If I’ve learned anything over the last decade that I’ve been doing this, it’s that there are a few habits that successful musicians have, and they’re not as complicated or complex as you might think. Ready to find out what they are? Always have a plan Trying to make it in the music industry and having no plan other than creating good music is like getting into a car with no idea where you’re going but thinking you’ll get there just because the car has gas. Odds are you’ll end up burning yourself (and the car) out by driving in circles endlessly trying to figure out why this turn or that turn didn’t work.
