Nearly 13 years ago, Jeff Staple and Reed Space changed the sneaker collecting hobby forever when the "Pigeon"  Nike SB Dunk Low  release caused an actual riot in New York City. Since then, the limited edition sneaker has become one of the most sought after in the game, fetching as much as $10,000 on the open market. As  reported  earlier this week, the "Pigeon" Dunk is rumored to be returning in November, this time in a previously unreleased black colorway. That information appears to have been confirmed by team riders Ishod Wair and Eric Koston, who shared first looks at the "Black Pigeons" on Instagram.  Follow SoleCollector.com   ✔ @SoleCollector Black “Pigeon” Nike SB Dunk Lows.    :  @ ishodwair 1:43 PM - Oct 29, 2017   11 11 Replies     167 167 Retweets     536 536 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy  Follow SoleCollector.com   ✔ @SoleCollector Anothe

Would You Pay $40,000 for These Derek Jeter Air Jordans? Rare pair lands at consignment shop.

Image
In May, Jordan Brand released an extremely limited  Yankees-themed Air Jordan 11 Retro in celebration of  Derek Jeter's  retirement ceremony at Yankee Stadium. The shoes, said to be limited to 5 pairs, were made available at a nearby pop-up shop through a scratch-off lottery system. Acquiring a pair is next to impossible, but a lucky recipient looking to cash in is increasing the odds ever-so-slightly. Consignment shop Stadium Goods  has a size 12 listed  with an asking price of a jaw-dropping $40,000. That's obviously a steep price to pay for a pair of sneakers, but these are one of the rarest, most collectible pairs ever produced. The similar  "Grey Suede" Air Jordan 11 Retro  released last December for $400 and resell in the $600-700 range. Angelus is  selling navy blue suede dye  for about $4. Just saying.

Virgil Abloh Shares Unreleased Nike and Jordan Samples At his Harvard Graduate School of Design lecture.

According to Nike,  Virgil Abloh's  ten-sneaker project with the brand was one of its fastest ever, with the collaboration going from idea to retail reality in just ten months. But, that's not to say that the sneakers involved didn't go through changes in that span. In a lecture at Harvard's Graduate School of Design last Thursday, the Off-White designer showed physical samples from the pack and images from early in the design stages. These included a Converse with a Swoosh across the side, his first Off-White x Air Jordan 1 design, and never-before-seen Air Force 1s. After this month's wide release of the  Virgil Abloh x Nike "The Ten" sneakers , there is more to come in 2018. Nike confirmed last week that it will release  new colorways of Virgil's designs  in the second half of next year.
